Heart and Soul Support
 Heart and Soul Support E-zine

Greetings and Aloha,

I do hope that during this holiday time you are happy and enjoying the true Spirit of the season. It is easy to get stressed out with all the doing-ness that comes with Christmas and family gatherings, celebrating with friends, work commitments, parties, shopping and all of the regular activities of life in general.

I urge you to stop for a moment, take a breath, let your shoulders relax and connect with the love you feel for yourself, your family and friends.

What most of us need and truly desire is NOT more "stuff", but rather, to feel connected, loved, appreciated, cherished and to have our love received. It is easy to lose track of the true Spirit and Soul of this season with all of the external impressions, media and advertising pushing to buy, buy, buy. Give yourself the gift of balance and a little time for yourself to stay centered. Take the time to tell the people that are important to you that you care. Risk communicating more openly your tender feelings and appreciation. Also, you can hold the visualization of your heart open, extending your love energy out to every one as you go about your day. Love is energy and you will feel better, happier and more relaxed sending your love out, yes, even to people you do not know... and the people that you come in contact with will feel better as well.

A few years ago someone in San Francisco came up with the idea to "Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty". Try it, it will feel great and keep you in a state of joy, with more acceptance of yourself and others, embracing life more fully. You will uncover the true meaning of Christmas and stay connected to YOUR Spirit and Soul AND the Spirit and Soul of this special time of the year.

I wish you much happiness and the experience that who you are is truly lovable and loved, that you matter and do make a difference in this world.

Happy Holidays and Blessings,
Pamela

What's New

A dear friend of mine just gave me a copy of this new book called Ask And It Is Given... Learning to Manifest Your Desires, by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Dr. Wayne Dyer has written the forward. Neale Donald Walsch, author of Conversations With God says: "This is, plain and simply, one of the most powerful books I have ever read. One's entire life can change because of what is found here. And all is given with such love! This book is a Life Treasure."

I HIGHLY recommend this book. It expresses much of the philosophy, ideas, principles and attitudes that I use in my life, practice and workshops.

Give yourself this gift, it will help you take charge of your life, to access your personal power and open you to more goodness.

 Recommendations

My Christmas activity recommendation:

Treat yourself and GO SEE the new movie "FINDING NEVERLAND". It is filled with magic and wonder and a great thing to do with those you love.

A Special Book

Louise Hay now has a beautiful gift edition of her famous book, You Can Heal Your Life. It is a very expanded version and so well done.
Louise says "If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed. The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences".

In this book she explains how our limiting thoughts and belief structures cause negative results in our lives and bodies. She also shows how we can change our thinking to change our lives for the better and improve the quality of our internal and external experiences.

Practices for EASE, PEACE and STRESS-RELIEF

Creating True Peace, by Thick Nhat Hanh
"The practice of peace: To make peace alive in us is to actively cultivate underdtanding, love and compassion, even in the face of misunderstanding and conflict. Practicing peace, especially in time of war requires courage...." T.N.H.

Learning, understanding and daily embodying the exercises and principles he sets forth will change your attitudes and your life.

 The Centering Prayer

Thomas Keeting, a Trapist monk, calls prayer "Divine therapy" and says that "CENTERING PRAYER has this cumulative effect: By not thinking, the body receives a rest deeper than sleep.....The body begins to let go of its defense mechanisms-the emotional experiences that were too painful to face or that you didn't have a language to tell anybody about."

To Practice Centering Prayer

1. Choose a sacred word as a symbol of your intention to consent to God's presence and action within. Choose your word during a brief period of prayer asking the Holy Spirit to inspire you with one especially suitable for you. (Examples: Lord, Abba, Father, Mother, Amen, Love, Peace.)

2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle briefly and silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God's presence and action within.

3. When you become aware of thoughts, return, ever-so-gently, to the sacred word.

4. At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes. Two periods of 20 minutes each are recommended each day - one first thing in the morning and one in the afternoon or early evening
